Our first performance in February 2018, in All Saints Church Newmarket, Suffolk An afternoon concert of Mozart and Haydn,
In September 2018 musicians from the Newmarket Chamber Orchestra took part in Brandon Musical Mayhem. A community festival based in Brandon, Suffolk. Playing a variety of different music we accompanied the Thetford Singers and local school children in specially commissioned music for the event.
In March 2018 we accompanied the Thetford Singers, a community choir, in a performance of Mozart's Requiem in St Cuthbert's church, Thetford.
A summer concert as part of the Newmarket Music Festival, in July 2018 in All Saints Church, Newmarket, Suffolk. A programme featuring some lesser known composers, such as Giovanni Gabrieli, with a performance of his Canzon XV performed in three 'choirs' of instruments around the church.
Our winter concert in February 2019 included the Schubert Overture in Italian Style, and an amazing performance of the symphony in D major by the Spanish composer Juan Crisostomo de Arriaga. Nicknamed the Spanish Mozart. A rarely performed work that the audience thoroughly enjoyed and the orchestra made their own.
Our summer concert in July 2019 featured solo baritone John Holland Avery in a performance of George Butterworth's A Shropshire Lad, especially orchestrated for us by Edward Pullin. He also gave a great performance of a famous Aria from Rossini's Barber of Seville. We performed another piece by renaissance composer Gabrieli, in 3 choirs of musicians situated around the church, to much appreciation from the audience. And if that wasn't enough our leader Paul Seddon gave a superb solo violin performance of Biber's Passacaglia in G minor.
Our winter concert in February 2020, also in All Saints Church, Newmarket, Suffolk, featured our Musical Director Chris Parsons, playing Haydn's famous trumpet concerto with the orchestra, expertly led by Paul Seddon. Chris' virtuoso playing was enjoyed by everyone. We also performed Mozart Symphony No. 35 'The Haffner'. A great climax to the concert which also included pieces for our strings and wind sections to show off their talents. A super programme of music much enjoyed by our audience.
Our winter concert 2022 was our first performance after the Covid Pandemic. We had our largest audience to date to see us play Mozart Overture Cosi Fan Tutte, Haydn Symphony 104 and a little known piece by Pleyel featuring a beautiful oboe tune.
A lovely programme of music for our winter concert in February 2023. The always popular, Mozart overture Marriage of Figaro, a short piece by Bruckner and the fabulous symphony number 6 by Schubert. Lively and fun filled music on a crisp February afternoon.
And in the summer of 2022 we gave our first performance as part of the Ely Arts Festival, playing the wonderful Beethoven Symphony No.1 and the Hummel Freudenfest Overture. We gave our audience another chance to hear this joyful music at the Newmarket Music and Arts Festival in July, at our home venue of All Saints Church. A lovely finish to the first full year returning to playing after Covid.
Our summer concert June 2023 in St Mary's church Ely, featuring Mozart Symphony No.31. Lovely audience as part of the Ely Arts Festival.
A winter concert featuring the exciting symphony Schubert No. 2, and J C Bach Grand Overture. Enjoyed by a large audience in All Saints Church Newmarket
Summer 2024 saw us back in All Saints Church Newmarket for a concert showing off some of the orchestra's many talented musicians. The string players performed a selection from Warlock's Capriol Suite and we enjoyed a wonderful duet from our resident clarinetist's Jane and Jack. We also included Beethoven's dramatic Coriolan overture and Haydn symphony no. 100 'The Military' making a rousing ending to the concert
